Student who dropped out of Law for yahoo arrested

The Lagos police command have arrested a 27-year-old university dropout, Destiny Otubambo, for allegedly stealing and obtaining under false pretence.

The dropout was said to have obtained a phone from a dealer at a Shopping Complex in  Lekki, Ajah.

The suspect who paraded himself as a lawyer opted to buy items which summed to to N377,500  and payed for them by generating a fake bank alert.

He reportedly told the shop owner that he would be paying through a mobile tranfer and the generated the fake zebith bank  alert, the procceded to show the owner that he has been debited by his bank.

Beliveing him to be true, the phones were realesed to him.

After a while of not getting the alert the owner of the shop tried reaching him though the number he dropped but to no avail.

The case was reported to FSARS  and he was tracked down shortly through his alleged girlfriend who was also picked up by the detectives.

On interrogation, otubambo admitted to the crime, he said he had sold the phones to a buyer he met online.

He also explained that he generated fake alerts by editing real ones.

10 simcards, 3phones and lawyer wig and gown were recovered from the suspect.

“My dad is late. I bought the lawyer gown from the market for N35,000. I have never been to the court before neither was I called to bar. There was no motive behind buying the gown. I just bought it and uploaded pictures I took in it, to social media.” He said

President Muhammadu Buhari has decorated Mr Mohammad Adamu as the acting  Inspector General of Police inside the State House on Tuesday on January 15, 2019

Mr Adamu takes over from Ibrahim Idris who retired today after turning 60 years old, the statutory age for retirement in the force. 

Former IG, Idris, was also present at the decoration where he congratulated the new IGP on his promotion.

The new IGP thanked the President for the opportunity and promised to come up with new strategies to tackle the security issues of the country.

Video: Man murders wife and children in Edo state over alleged adultery(graphic)

A 35-year-old man identified as Uwaila, on Sunday, murdered his wife and children in Edo State because his wife had allegedly committed adultery. 

The News Agency of Nigeria reported that the incident happened at Ovbiogie village in Ovia North East Local Government Area of the state.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Hakeem Odumosun, after visiting the scene promised prompt charging of the suspect to court after investigations were complete.

Uwaila was said to have chased the wife and children into a room where they locked themselves following an argument. He reportedly shot through the door thereby killing his wife and children. 

The residents of the community wailed almost uncontrollably when officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) came to evacuate the corpses.

According to the suspect who is in police custody, his wife accused him of having girlfriends and threatened to retaliate by going out with other men.

Mr Uwaila said he drove out of the house in anger and came back to see that his wife locked herself and his sons inside one of the rooms.

The suspect said he shot through the door, adding that in the process, the bullet hit them on the bed.
