The Premier League makes a very welcome return this weekend, and the blue’s tussle with spurs is the standout fixture in England’s top flight over the next few days.
It is sure to be another tense encounter between the two most successful British sides in history, as the Blues do battle with their fiercest rivals.
Victory for either side will act as a huge momentum boost following the international break, with both teams looking flawed so far in 2018/19.
Maurizio sarri will know how important the outcome of this match is in terms of his unbeaten start, while pochettino will be well aware that more dropped points will see them drift out of the title race already.
There are a number of important match-ups on the pitch that could have a huge bearing on the result; here are three that we think could be most pivotal.
DELE ALLI VS JORGINHO
A lot of the game is likely to be played in the middle of the park and who shines more between Alli Or jorginho could prove vital.
The young duo’s are two of the finest midfielders in England and their importance to their team cannot be understated.
Jorginh provides the catalyst for Sarri’s free flowing football, with his ability to dictate play from his deep-lying role.
Alli, Meanwhile, has been sensational for spurs, with the teenager one of the most talented player England has produced in the last 20years.
He will once again be deployed in attacking midfield and it will be up to jorginho to extinguish the threat of the elegant 21year old.
It should be an enthralling match-up between two prodigiously gifted players and keeping each other quiet will be very much the order of the day.
EDEN HAAZARD VS TRIPPER
Tripper, is expected to pass a late fitness test after withdrawing from England squad during the int. Break.
But coming up against the scintillating eden hazard will be terrible way to make his rerurn.
Hazard will drift in from the left hand side in what is likely to be a 4-3-3 formation, which will make things tricky for tripper.
The Belgium international has shown time and time again how dangerous he can be inside those left-side areas.
He is never going to beat Tripper for pace on the outside, or outmuscle him, so the Spurs man will at least know what is coming.
The England international is not a great defender, and his questionable positional sense and general intelligence can sometimes be his downfall—he is
enjoying a good season, however.
If Tripper allow Hazard to run the show then Chelsea may well triumph, but equally, the Blue’s talisman must help negate his opponents’ threat at the other end of the pitch.
KANE VS RUDIGER
After Enduring such a tortuous first year at stamford bridge rudiger is finally starting to look the part in a Chelsea shirt.
On Saturday he will come up against the most deadly striker in the League in harry kane which will be a true test of his character.
Spurs’ star striker has been a huge reason for their surprise title challenge this season, and in a game of huge importance, they need him to deliver once
He also drops deep in order to become more involved in Spurs’ build-up play, which will also give the German. the dilemma of either tracking his man or allowing him space.
It will be a physical battle and one rudiger must win if Chelsea are to preserve their unbeaten run.
Red hot Mo.Salah fires reds to last-16 of Champions league
Football fans around the world will always
believe that their team – unlike others –
prefer to do things the hard way.
For Liverpool supporters, there is a kernel of
truth in such declarations but, in reality, they
should expect nothing else when it comes to
the Champions League.
The quality of the opposition, particularly in
the group they were handed this year,
ensures it’s always going to be difficult to
progress through this competition.
And so a winner-takes-all final group game
against Napoli was perhaps nothing less than they should have expected.
In the end, all that mattered was getting
through, and that’s precisely what Jurgen
Klopp’s team managed to do courtesy of a 1-0.
Thanks to mo.salah who sprung into life at a crucial time for Liverpool.
Until this month Salah hadn’t reached the peaks of last season – but the Egyptian star has burst into life the last few days first with a hat-trick at Bournemouth and then his
opener against Napoli.
The striker was back to his electric best against Napoli and although he found a worthy adversary in Kalidou Koulibaly
even the top drawer Senegal defender couldn’t keep the £34million attacker at bay.
His first half finish was typical Salah – and a priceless goalfor Liverpool’s season.
That they were made to fight for it only
makes the end result more satisfying, and
they can now rest easy until February safe in
the knowledge that no Europa League trips
Instead, all focus turns to Sunday’s meeting
with Manchester United and a chance to turn a big week into a perfect one.

Sarri outwits Guardiola to leave Liverpool top as Chelsea blunt Manchester City
Manchester City suffered their first league
defeat of the season against Chelsea on
Saturday to drop into second place in the
table behind new leaders Liverpool .
Pep Guardiola’s side dominated the majority
of the first half at Stamford Bridge but were
left stunned just before the break when N’Golo Kante fired in the opener from Eden Hazard’s cut-back.
David Luiz then doubled Chelsea’s advantage in the 78th minute to secure a 2-0 win that keeps Chelsea above Arsenal on goal difference but, crucially, inadvertently aids Liverpool in their charge for the title.
Jurgen Klopp’s side, who beat Bournemouth
4-0 away earlier on Saturday, now lead the
standings by a point while City drop into
Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri had called on his side to show a reaction against City after seeing his side suffer their second straight loss on the road in midweek, when the Blues gave up a 1-0 lead to lose 2-1 to Wolves at Molineux.
And the Italian certainly elicited a reaction
after both he and Guardiola decided on a
personnel change up front, with both opting
to omit strikers from their starting line-ups in
favour of a ‘false No.9’.
While Sarri dropped struggling forward
Alvaro Morata for Hazard, Guardiola decided
against starting Gabriel Jesus in place of the injured Sergio Aguero and instead placed his faith in Raheem Sterling up front.
And the England international didn’t take
long to threaten Chelsea’s goal when, in the
ninth minute, Fabian Delph robbed Jorginho
of the ball, passed to Leroy Sane who cut the ball back for Sterling.
The 24-year-old raced into the area but failed to get a clean shot away, but the effort
marked the start of City’s utter dominance of the first half.
The visitors created attack after attack but,
somehow, Chelsea held on and moments
before the break the hosts got the opportunity they had been eagerly waiting for to take the lead.
With City failing to clear a long pass in from
David Luiz, the ball was eventually played to
Hazard out on the left, who spotted an
advancing Kante and cut it back to the
The France World Cup winner – whose new
attack-minded role has been criticised by
some this season – raced forward and drove in a powerful shot into the roof of the net that handed the Blues the lead and sent the home fans wild.
Guardiola reacted by hauling off Sane for
Jesus, but Chelsea remained dangerous after the break and, indeed, Ederson was needed to keep out two efforts from Willian, the first of which was a free-kick.
As mistakes began creeping into City’s game, Chelsea appeared more and more confident and it wasn’t long before they got their second from a corner kick, won by substitute Ross Barkley.
Luiz drifted into space and headed the ball
over Ederson to create a more comfortable
score-line for the Blues, which Chelsea held
onto to secure a famous win that throws open the title race and keeps the race for a top-four spot tight.
